Valtech’s Business Valuation team recently completed an engagement involving the valuation of a printing group in connection with a connected-party disposal. The printing group operates in Australia and is a major player in the Australian book-printing sector.
Book printing is a highly specialized and relatively traditional industry. As the operating landscape continues to evolve, many traditional printing groups have gradually expanded into or shifted their focus towards digital printing and other related businesses. This presented additional challenges in identifying suitable comparable companies, as the profitability and business characteristics of different printing products and services can vary significantly. Differences in the principal locations of operation among potential comparable companies also added another layer of complexity to the valuation exercise.
Transactions requiring approval from relevant regulatory bodies are often highly time-sensitive. Through the efforts of our Business Valuation team, we were able to address HKEx’s queries in relation to the transaction on a timely basis, and the circular was published in mid-August as scheduled.
With the increasing adoption of AI in professional and financial services, regulatory scrutiny over the quality, supportability and consistency of professional valuation reports is also expected to increase. Our Business Valuation team has extensive experience in valuation engagements involving public disclosures and regulatory review, and is well positioned to provide clients with professional and reliable valuation services that meet both their commercial needs and regulatory requirements.
